From July-- but still.

President George Bush: 'Goodbye from the world's biggest polluter'

"The American leader, who has been condemned throughout his presidency for failing to tackle climate change, ended a private meeting with the words: 'Goodbye from the world's biggest polluter.'
He then punched the air while grinning widely, as the rest of those present including Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy looked on in shock."

This article reinforces a) Bush is a failurepresident and b) the US media is not worth shit, because I didn't see anything else about this.

I knew I liked this song!

CPR study suggests 'Staying Alive' lives up to name

"At 103 beats per minute, the old disco song has almost the perfect rhythm to help jump-start a stopped heart.
And in a small but intriguing study from the University of Illinois medical school, doctors and students maintained close to the ideal number of chest compressions doing CPR while listening to the catchy, sung-in-falsetto tune from the 1977 movie '
Saturday Night Fever.'"

No Resources Left Behind: With-held Instead

UN suspends food distribution in Gaza

"The United Nations announced it was suspending food distribution to half of Gaza's 1.5 million people on Thursday after Israel failed to allow emergency supplies into the Palestinian territory."

Reasons why that's fucked up:
1. The United Nations is blindly following what Israel wants.
2. "Failed to allow" instead of "Refused to allow"-- deliberately neutral wording.
3. Behind Israel's actions is a logic similar to the No Child Left Behind Act-- getting punished for not being up to standards, instead of receiving aid to improve standards.

Actions vs. Consequences

Austrian incest father charged with murder: official

"Josef Fritzl -- who held his daughter as a sex slave in a cellar for 24 years -- has been charged with murdering one of the children he had with her, according to the charge sheet published on Thursday.
Prosecutors allege he was responsible for the death of a new-born in 1996 by failing to seek help even though he was aware that the baby might die. If proved, the charge could carry a sentence of life imprisonment. . .
Fritzl has also been charged with rape and sequestration, which carry a maximum sentence of 15 years in jail."

1. Psychopath!
2. Why is it that holding someone prisoner and raping them for 24 years only gets 15 years in prison?
3. It takes murdering one of his rape-babies/grandchildren to get a life sentence.
